Jesus wants us to follow Him.

Jesus leads by example

Jesus did everything we can also do by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus did not exercise His power as God apart from the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” –John 14:12.

Jesus healed many people, cast out many demons and did marvelous works not seen by many before God came to earth in His flesh.

Jesus did not start His ministry until after He received the Holy Spirit from the Father.

Jesus Receives the Holy Spirit from the Father

Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?”

But Jesus answered and said to him, Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he allowed Him.

When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” –Matthew 3:13-17

Jesus Fasts 40 Days Under the Power of the Holy Spirit

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. –Matthew 4:1-2

Many people think Jesus fasted 40 days because He is God, but Jesus fasted 40 days after He received the Holy Spirit from the Father. Jesus wants us to follow Him. He did everything we can do also by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Moses was not God and he fasted 40 days because he was in the presence of God.

Moses Fasts 40 Days in the Presence of God

So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.Exodus 34:28

Many people will think at this point, so what? Moses was a great prophet unlike any other person; of course Moses could fast for 40 days. But, other people have fasted for 40 days under the power of the Holy Spirit in recent history.

T.L. Lowery Fasts 40 Days under the Power of the Holy Spirit

T.L. Lowery was a human like anyone else, but under the power of the Holy Spirit, he was able to fast for 40 days. The glory of God manifested in cloud form in an arena in Knoxville during one of Dr. Lowery’s 40 day fast.
